Fit Test & Sizing Technician (Engineering Technician II)

Location: Gulfport, MS

Kalman & Company is hiring for a Fit Test & Sizing Technician with an Active Secret Security Clearance to work at an onsite position in Chesapeake, VA. Fit Test & Sizing Technicians may be required to travel both within and outside of the continental United States; will be responsible for assisting the CBR Team Lead in all daily tasks and ensure the completion of each assigned task as directed; provide technical knowledge where applicable; facilitate accurate inventory of all Chemical, Biological and Radiological (CBR) assets and information counted/collected daily, by use of established warehouse (WMS) and quality (QMS) management systems; perform quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) activities, by way of visual, technical and cyclic inspection, on all CBR equipment and data by utilizing established processes, procedures and technical guidance while complying to all safety, conduct and company policies and procedures, as defined.

Specific Duties:

  • All essential functions are conducted in accordance with all applicable technical, procedural and quality requirements identified by the customer and organization.

    Visual/Technical Inspection –
  • Technician will perform visual/technical inspections of all CBR equipment as trained and directed.
  • Fit Test & Sizing – Responsibilities include:
    • Perform Ensemble Sizing (True Fit) of Individual Protective Equipment (IPE) and Mask Sizing using CBR protective mask and related sizing tools on all personnel, or as otherwise directed by NAVSEA Panama City, FL.
    • Collect complete, accurate and legible sizing information of personnel onto records or other formats as directed.
    • Interact with diverse groups to provide and process information in response to inquiries, concerns and requests about products and services.
  • Equipment Processing – Responsibilities include:
    • Perform on-load / off-load operations of CBR IPE and masks at customer locations, or as otherwise directed.
    • When directed, locate, de-issue and transfer CBR IPE and masks and/or related equipment returned from customers and segregate them by size and type, where applicable, into storage bins.
    • Maintain competence to:
    o Fully disassemble CBR masks and related equipment for the purpose of quick inspection.
    o Fully re-assemble CBR masks and related equipment.
    • Ensure all products or job-related equipment discrepancies are corrected, recorded and reported to the CBR Team Lead.
    • Prepare equipment for short/long term storage utilizing warehousing and other job-related equipment and materials.
  • JSMLT / TDA-99M Operator – Responsibilities include:
    • Operate the JSMLT and TDA-99M to perform inspection and troubleshooting procedures.
    • Perform mask tester validation procedures.
    • Perform Quantitative Fit Test on required personnel for accurate CBR mask fitting.
    • Ensure all CBR mask testers are physically and digitally available in storage bins or other related locations.
    • Help to maintain the accuracy and quality of the CBR inventory by utilizing the WMS to update calibration dates of all CBR mask testers.
    • Stage and prepare mask testers for shipment to the CSF or other approved designation for calibration activities.
    • Locate and pick CBR mask testers for work orders.
    • Ensure all products or job-related equipment discrepancies are corrected, recorded and reported to the Team Lead.
    Inventory Control – Responsibilities include:
    • Perform cycle count inspections on CBR equipment and masks.
    • Ensure all inspected items are physically and digitally available within the WMS or other related locations.
    • Ensure all CBR equipment, masks or other job-related equipment discrepancies are recorded, corrected and reported to the Team Lead.
  • Data Entry – Responsibilities include:
    • Ensure all data collected is complete, accurate, and legible then entered into appropriate data collection systems.
    • Provide matrix-driven reports in support of the Consolidated Storage Facility (CSF) or other Regional Hub requirements.
    • Technician will help maintain accuracy and quality of the CBR inventory by utilizing the WMS dashboard and/or handheld devices and related operational modules to appropriately count and audit digital information.
    Rental Truck/Fork Truck/Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Operator –
    • When required, technician will be required to safely, efficiently and appropriately utilize rental equipment/vehicles/ forklifts, mid-riders, pallet jacks and/ or other similar MHE devices to transport CBR equipment and job-related materials to designated locations, or as otherwise directed.

Required Education/Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Hold an active Secret Clearance
  • CBR Warehouse Technicians are required to be able to work on their feet for up to 8 hours a day in a non-climate-controlled environment, and to be able to lift and handle material weighing up to 35 pounds.
